This was my uncle’s car. He is retired from racing being 70+ now. The insanity starts at 1:19. You can also attach a leaf blower to the under tray to create a vacuum. SCCA baned that little trick pretty quickly. The car is powered by a 3-cylinder yamaha (I think) turbo’d snowmobile engine, and has a centrifugal clutch (I think that’s what you call it - like a cvt) set for red line at about 90 mph.

He ran a CVT, basically straight from the snowmobile the engine was from.
That’s A-Mod for you, pure insanity.

That’s what I remember I just don’t know snowmobiles very well and how the whole slippy clutch thingy works.

That video looks absolutely brutal. It looks like you’d get out of it sweating and bruised like you just went three rounds against Ronda Rousey.

Your uncle George is a bad ass. Thanks for sharing. I’m off to research A mod scca cause that looks fun.

I’ve never had a chance to drive the car. My dad drove it a couple of times and it gave him motion sickness. He had a V8 sprite for a while that was a bit more manageable.

No turbo. Not Yamaha. 3 cylinder Polaris. And last time I ran against him (we fit in the same class-although I was nowhere close in time) he was shedding belts each pass-at $175 a pop. I miss him running-hell of a nice guy.

I actually own the sucker car now, or what’s left of it. It’s a mod car, so things change as the sport develops. It’s longer now and the undertray has been completely changed. (What worked for a sucker car didn’t work as well without it.) Won 2015 Solo Nationals in it. Will be back in 2016. Dan Wasdahl owns the red car in the video. He will also be at Nationals (only a few weeks away!).
I met up with George earlier this year for lunch. Your uncle is a great guy!
BTW, the red car has a 3 cylinder ArcticCat, two-stroke, non-turbo.
